The Sunday Express says the Rugby League Council may cancel the New Zealanders’ remaining games, recognising that the tour is a financial failure. The council decided that Mr Mair must cease to act as joint manager,' but both Messrs Mair and Ponder refuse to accept the decision. (Received Dec. 20, at 5.5 p.m.) If the match against Hunslet concludes the tour the League will lose £2OOO. The League refutes the insinuation that its decision upholds the malcontents.——Sydney Sun Cable. STEAMER BOOKINGS VETOED. LONDON, December 20. (Received Dec. 20, at 10 p.m.) , The Daily Herald says that the trouble may result in the premature termination of the tour which the Rugby League had. decided to run until January 10. Mr,Wilson, the secretary, says that Mr Mair has asked a shipping company, to arrange return bookings for six players on December 3l‘ Mr Wilson told -the shipping officials that Mr Mair had no authority to place such an order. The Council of the League will meet on Wednesday to consider the position. Mr Wilson added that he hoped that it would not be necessary to cancel the seven fixtures already arranged and four others in contemplation.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
