NEW RUMANIAN CAPITAL
QUEEN MARIE’S PLAN. NEW YORK, December 8. Hugh Kirby, a financier and architect, declares that one of the hief objects of Queen Marie’s American tour was to arrange finances for the construction of a new capital for Rufania. George Cook, an American architect, who is now in Italy, has completed plans for a splendid model city on the banks of the Danube, in Eastern Rumania. Mr Kirby expresses the opinion that Queen Marie’s dream will come true through the assistance of American financiers, who has already guaranteed preliminary funds for underground railways and a marvellous lighting system. King Ferdinand’s sickness prevented the fruition of the scheme before she left America, Mr Kirby said, but success is assured, he believes. / *
