ACTION BY ENGINEER. (Speolai. to Dailjt Times.) CHRISTCHURCH. December. 10. It is understood that a writ will be issued by Mr Cyrus Williams, engineer to the Lyttelton Harbour Board, for £SOOO against Messrs F. W. Freeman, H. M. Chrystall, and several other members of the Port and City Committee, and the Christchurch Press Co. (Ltd.). The grounds of the action are that the published statements of the committee are calculated tc damage Mr Williams’s reputation as .an engineer. The statements referred to, it. is believed, were contained in letters- published in the Christchurch Press from the Port and City Committee which is advocating various reforms at Lyttelton, and also the construction of a tunnel road between the port and Christchurch, and the trial of Diesel engines in preference to the electrification of the present tunnel.
