The following clauses are extracted from the committee reporta to be presented to the City Council at its meeting on Wednesday .evening: The Reserves 'Committee recommends that the tender received tor the removal of the flag pole from the Queen’s Gardens and thq re-oonstruction of same in the Market Reserve be not accepted in the meantime. Advice has been received from the Commissioner of Crown Lands that the control of the Evansdalo Glen Scenic Reserve has been duly vested in the City Council for a further period of five years from November 20, 1926. The Works Committee recommends that the plan laid on the table submitted by Messrs N. and E. S. Paterson (Ltd.) on, behalf of Mr Peter Duncan, showing the route of a proposed new roadway running off Grendon street, Maori Hill, and traversing Mr Duncan’s property, “Tolcarne,” as far as the Town Belt, be approved and that authority bo granted to forward a memorial to his Excellency the GovernorGeneral, pursuant to the provisions of section 187 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” praying that his Excellency may see fit to authorise the council to permit the laying off of the proposed road at a minimum width of 40ft. The Electric Power and Lighting Committee recommends that the tender of the Bruce Railway and Coal Co. for the supply and delivery c.i.f. and e.. Dunedin, of 50 25ft and 200 30ft hardwood poles be accepted. That the tender of Mr C. Black for the purchase of approximately 3 tons of scrap iron now lying at the department’s store be accepted. The Tramways Committee reports that in response to a request by petition from the residents of Brighton, authority has been granted the tramway manager to arrange for a bus service between the city and Brighton, commencing on Friday, the 17th inst,, the 'service to be continued daily while traffic warrants. The fare meantime will be 5s return. The tramway manager has been authorised to act in the matter of an application received from the Girl Guides Provincial Association for free travel on four cars on Saturday, the 11th inst., for the purpose of conveying Girl Guides to a review to be neld at Tahuna Park. With reference to the application from the Public Works Committee for a Supplemental maintenance vote of, £560 to cover the additional estimated cost of maintaining main roads in the southern division over and above the amount provided in the current year’s estimates, the Finance Committee recommends that the vote be approved. The expenditure can be met out of revenue for the present year. The F'nance Committee recommends that (he offer of the liquidators of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Company (Ltd.) to present to the Corporation as a memento of the successful Exhibition held at Logan Park the rnarblo commemoration tablet, which took the place of a foundation stone and was placed in position by his Excellency the GovernorGeneral, Lord Jellicoe, on October 13, 1524. be accepted with thanks. The mat(er of displaying the tablet at a suitable location will be attended to by the committee in due course A letter from the town clerk of Stratford asking the approval of the council to the_ formation of a Town Clerks’ Association is laid on the table. Your committee desires to state that in its opinion the matter is one which really concerns the town clerks themselves, but as far as the council may be concerned there appears to be no objection to the formation of such an association, if the town clerks as a "whole appear to be desirous of doing so.
