MEETING OF FARMERS.

CONDITIONS OF INDUSTRY. extreme; dissatisfaction. (Pee United Peess Association.) WANGANUI, December 9. A mass meeting of North island farmers to-night reviewed the influences adverse to the prosperity of the primal y producer. There was a big attendance, including farmers from all the North Island provinces, while among the speakers were Mr W. J. Poison (president of the New Zealand banners Union), Sir Andrew Russell (Hastings), Messrs A Stewart (Marton), W. lerr\ (Masterton), John Cobbe (Feeding), W. B. Mathieson (Eketahuna), J. Vickers .Taranaki), C. K. Wilson (Piopio), and W. Morrison (Wanganui). Resolutions -were passed calling tor me abolition of the Arbitration Court, the establishment of a system of rural credits, as recommended by the Royal Commission, the extension of overseas markets for Dominion produce and economy in the public expenditure to allow reduced taxation. Several members of Parliament were present, as well as the Hon. O. J. Hawken (Minister of Agriculture) and the Hon. A. D. M'Leod (Minister Oi Lands), neither of whom took any active part in the proceedings. The tone of he meeting was one of extreme dissatisfaction with the present position of the farmers. Similar rallies are to be neld in other centres.
