The Kurow sailed last night for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington and Auckland. The Government steamer Tutanekal sailed early yesterday morning for southern lighthouses, the Campbell Islands, and West Coast Sounds. The Haln Line steamer Tregenna Is to sail to-day for Westport to replenish her bunkers. She will afterwards go to Port Plrle, where the remainder of her New York cargo will be discharged. The Oplhl left Westport at midnight on Wednesday with cargo of coal for discharge at Dunedin. She should arrive to-morrow afternoon. The Calm is due here this morning from Bluff to load general cargo. She Is timed to sail to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington. and Wanganui. The Otakl Is to leave Auckland to-mor-row for Gisborne and Lyttelton to complete Homeward loading. She will finally from Lyttelton about December 20 for London, via Panama. Messrs Dalgety and Co. advise that the auxiliary ketch Miro was expected to leave Auckland yesterday with a cargo of explosives for discharge at Wellington, Westport, Greymouth. and Port Chalmers. She should arrive here about December 22, and after discharge will go to Timaru to load under charter for Tauranga. The Waiotapu loads at Pacific Coast ports during this month for Papeete, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. The Rimutaka is to leave Southampton on December 23 with cargo for discharge at Wellington and Auckland. The Ngakuta loads cement, at Portland to-day for New Plymouth, Wellington, and Lyttelton. ATUA AND NAVUA TO SAIL. The former Union Company steamers Atua and Navua will sail from Port Chalmers today for Westport. After bunkering there the ships will go to Australia to load for Egypt. Captain Mather will be In command of the Atua and Captain Skinner will be in charge of the Navua. TEKOA FROM LIVERPOOL. The Federal Line agency advises that tbs steamer Tekoa is due at Wellington this evening from Auckland to continue discharging Liverpool cargo. She will proceed thence to Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge. The Tekoa is due at this port about December 21. MOVEMENTS OP Ma.IL STEAMERS. The Aorangi, from Sydney, via ports, was due at Vancouver yesterday. She will leave on the return voyage on December 15, end is duo at Auckland on January 2. The Makura left San Francisco on December 1. and Is due at Papeete on December 11, at Rarotonga on December 14, and at Wellington on December 20. She will leave for Sydney the ea-me day. HUNTINGDON’S LOADING PORTS. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Huntingdon, now at Port Chalmers, will commence loading next’ week for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Manchester. The vessel will subsequently load also at Lyttelton, Wellington, Auckland, Napier, and Gisborne. She will sail finally from Gisborne about January 16 for England via Panama. PERSONAL ITEMS. Captain G. M. Ruxton has relieved Captain E. R. Lowe as master of the Walpori. Captain G. R. Morgan has relieved Captain Duncan MacDonald as master of the Karetu, the latter officer having assumed command of the Tofua, vice Captain A. H. Prosser, who has rejoined the Tamahinc, relieving Captain J. Rankine for instructions. Captain J. W. Cameron has rejoined the Poolta, relieving Captain J. L. Brisco for instructions. Mr H. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Sydney arrived yesterday morning from New York, via Norfolk (Virginia). Panama, Auckland, Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelton. The vessel was berthed at Port Chalmers, whore the Dunedin portion of her American cargo, including case oil, is being discharged. The Port Sydney steamed from London to New York in ballast, averaging 13.08 knots for the trip. She loaded all her cargo at New York and sailed from that port on October 21. A call was made at Norfolk. Virginia, for bunkers, and owing to the large number of steamers waiting to coal, the Port Sydney did not resume her voyage until November 26. Colon was reached on December 2, and after taking in further coal, the vessel passed through the Panama Canal and resumed her voyage from Balboa the same day. Coming across the Pacific the steamer made a short stop off Pitcairn Island on November 14. Favourable weather was experienced for the greater part of the trip, which was uneventful. LOSS OP THE AYRSHIRE. The Scottish Shire liner Ayrshire, laden with wool from Australia, which caught lire near Colombo, has been completely destroyed. The crew of 100 was rescued by the steamers City of Nagpur and. Aeneas. The Ayrshire carried a valuable cargo from Australian ports. ■ She loaded at Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Bunbury, finally leaving Fremantle on Novetnber 14 for London, Manchester, Liverpool, and Avonmouth. Captain Page, well known in Sydney, ha-d command of the Ayrshire, which was a steel twin-screw steamer of 9137 tons gross, and 8760 tons net, carrying Lloyd’s 100 A 1 class. She vas built in 1903. The vessel was specially designed for the Australian trade, and lias extensive refrigerating space. COLAC FROM CANADIAN PORTS. Under charter to the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Huddart-Parker steamer Colac arrived at Dunedin yesterday afternoon from Eastern Canadian ports, via Newport News, Panama, Auckland. Wellington, and Lyttelton The vessel was berthed at the Birch street wharf, where the local portion of her general cargo Is being discharged. Formerly a unit of the Australian Commonwealth Line, the Colac was idle at Falmouth for 15 months and was then sold to the Huddart-Parker Company. She Bailed from Falmouth on August 24 and proceeded to Sydney, Cape Breton, where she loaded rails and other iron products. She '’next wont to Montreal and took in general cargo. Afterwards she bunkered at Newport News, and also loaded a quantity of tobacco ana then resumed her voyage to New Zealand. On October 19 she bunkered at Colon and next day cleared Balboa. Fine weather prevailed In the Pacific until after passing Pitcairn Island, when the Colac encountered strong head winds and a very high westerly swell.
