Nelson Derby was stepped out over two miles on Tuesday morning. His leg is now better than it has been for some weeks, and ha may be found gathering one of tho big stakes at the holiday meetings. Jack Potts was on the Addington track on Tuesday morning, and looked tho picture of fitness. There is, however, just a suspicion that ho has not fully recovered from the injuries ho received prior to the November carnival. Willie Logan is now on a mark from which it is hard to win. In a work-out the other morning he made considerable noise. Prior to his victory at Winton Doleful Ditty hacf not won a race since he captured the Jervois Handicap at the Auckland winter fixture of 1024. D. P. Wilson is mapping out a holiday campaign for Black Duke and King Sol. They aio useful gallopers and may gather a stake or two soon. The sensational dividend payer King Cup is on the easy list. Tho much-discussed Stormy has recently Won three races on end in the country or suburban areas of New South Wales. Delightment, a double winner at tho recent Waikato meeting, was also a double winner at tho Whangarci spring mectingand thus scored four successes on end. lie is a four-yoar-old colt, by Catmint—Deli-ht-ful, and is owned and trained at Whangarei by Mr J. P. Tierney. Ho had started a dozen times prior to this season with nothing better than a second placing as a three-year-old to show, but this season sas so far “missed” only once. W’anganui reports that Tamateto is training on well, and he is expected to take his ®lace in the field tor the Fcilding Stakes, tie has won this raco three years in succession, and he is expected to make a bold showing again this year. Lysander will bo among his opponents, but over five furlongs Tamatete should keep tho penalised three-year-old very busy. Rapine has now won £18,395 in stakes, so that, all going well, he is in a good position to place himself amongst those who have won £20,000. This is a lino record for a horse who was able to do no racing at all when Cvo years, which might have been his best season. Exalted, a filly by Leighton from Flora Mac-donald, looks as though she will bo hard to dispose of in juvenile events this season. Prior to tho Waikato meetin rr she had only started once but in her two outings at Waikato she finished third on each occasion, after being in front for_ a good portion of the wav. Exalted begins well. There must be a number of forgetful racegoers in Australia. Recently the Australian Jockov Club donated £1242 in unclaimed dividends In bo divided among several Sydney charities. It is on the cards that Warhaven and Kipling will be raced at the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s summer meeting, as the Washdyke track suits both horscs._ln the event of Warhaven competing in Timaru, ho may bo piloted by J. Andrews, one of the most vigorous horsemen in the south. A. M'Auley has Sagittarius and Sir Roy in good order at Riccarton, and both are expected to be good stake owners at forthcoming southern meetings. Countersign has been restricted to light work since the New Zealand Cup meeting, but will be put to more serious business after this week with a view to competing at the Dunedin summer meeting. Margaret Birney has thrown off the after-effects of her hard racing at the Cup meeting, and was responsible for a well-run mile on the Riccarton track on Tuesday, being assisted over the last six furlongs by Horatius. She should be in good order for her next engagement, tho Methven Cup.

Fresco shows the benefit of his recent racing, and is now looking in excellent fettle. His trainer, F. Christmas, decided he could jpot get the gelding ready in time to undertake the two-milc journey attached to the Auckland Cup. and his name was recently withdrawn from that event. He will, however, be sent north to compete in minor events at the Auckland summer meeting.
