METHODIST ORPHANAGE.

WINDFALL FOE AUCKLAND BEQUEST AMOUNTING TO £21,620. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, November 25. A munificent bequest, amounting to £21,629, has been received by the Auckland Methodist Orphanage from the trustees of the late Mr William Winstone, comprising shares, mortgages, and other assets. These have now been handed over by bis trustees, and the full estimated value of the bequest was made known to-day to the Auckland Methodist Synod. In presenting the annual report of the orphanage the Rev. S. Griffith stated that the Board of Management had resolved to apply the bequest as it became available to meet capital liabilities on the Epsom Home, and when these Pad been wiped off the balance would be used for extension purposes and in making the nucleus of an endowment fund. Lest anyone should imagine that the orphanage was greatly in funds, h’ would explain that not all the assets comprising the bequest were immediately realisable or fully remunerative. The following bequests, notified during the year, were also reported:—Mrs J. N. Serro (Newmarket), £2500 (approximate); Mr W. Kisby (Wellington), £SOO (subject to a life interest); W. J. Whitford (Mangere), £IOO and a residence — £250 (approximate), subject to a life interest; Mrs Ann King (Pukekohe), £IOO (paid); Mrs Anderson (Auckland), £100; Mrs J. H. Townsend (Tauranga). £IOO.

The Synod expressed its grateful an predation of the bequests.
