An examination at the hospital showed that his left leg was broken, and that other injuries had been inflicted; also that he was suffering from severe shock. At the time of the accident three cars were proceeding along Victoria street, two of them being abreast. Murray's car was coming slightly behind the other two. One of the two cars abreast, which was driven by a woman, suddenly turned across the street to avoid a collision. Murray had to swerve out of his course towards the footpath.
