BRITISH COAL STRIKE

DECISION OF THE MINERS. LATEST OFFER REJECTED. (Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, November 18. It is estimated that the unexpected swing of the miners' vote will result in 100,000 being against the proposals. Mr Cook declared that the future policy of the miners rested entirely with the Delegate Conference on Friday. He said that the only thing certain was that the miners had overwhelmingly rejected the proposals. The miner’s delegates have returned from the coalfields. It is known that no recommendations will be made at to-mor-row’s conference, which is therefore free to pursue its own course.—A. and N.Z. Cable. EFFECT OF THE VOTE. HONOURABLE TERMS DEMANDED. LONDON, November 18. (Received Nov. 19, at 9 p.m.) The Daily Herald says that the Miner’s Delegate Conference will no doubt direct that the Government should be informed of the result of the voting and the conference will have to decide whether any further approach shall' be made to the Government or whether the national negotiations shall be abandoned. One of the alternatives being considered is that the districts should proceed with local negotaitions and report the results of a further National Conference In any case the vote of the rank and file is regarded as a decision to fight on for honourable terms. The policy will be determined in that light.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
