Tire Ruahine arrived at Port Chalmers from Bluff yesterday morning, and proceeded to load butter, cheese, and other dairy produce. This morning she will leave Port Chalmers to complete her loading for London at northern ports. The Kurow arrived hero yesterday morning from Auckland, via ports, and was berthed at the cross wharf to discharge and load a largo quantity of general cargo. She is to sail to-day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Kahika is due at Dunedin to-morrow from Wellington, and will load general cargo on Monday tor Napier and Gisborne. The Gale is due here this morning from Lyttelton to load general cargo. She is timed to sail to-night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton. Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Oreti is due to-morrow from Port Craig with a cargo of timber. She will sail on Tuesday for Invercargill and Port Craig. The Waipiata is scheduled to leave Auckland on Thursday next with cargo for discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Duncciin. The John has been fixsd to load at Dunedin on Tuesday for Wellington and Wanganui. 'Tho City of Canton will sail about Tuesday for Portland (Victoria) to discharge tho balance of her New York cargo. ARAWA FROM LIVERPOOL. -A wireless message received by the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company from the captain of the Arawa states that the vessel will arrive at Auckland on Thursday next from Liverpool. The Arawa is bringing general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is duo at this port about December 9. INCOMING SAN FRANCISCO MAIL. The R.M.S Tahiti, from San Francisco, PR Rarotonga on Tuesday last, and is due at Wellington on Monday. Sho will leave at 3 p.m. on Tuesday for Sydney. ROTORUA LEAVES SOUTHAMPTON. Cable advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Rotorua left Southampton on November 17 for Auckland, Wellington, and Bluff,' via Curacao and Panama. Advice received bv the Union Company slates that the R.M.S. Niagara left Vancouver at 10 p.m. on Wednesday last for Auckland and Sydney, via Honolulu and Suva. Sho is due at Auckland on December 6. THE LIGHTHOUSE STEAMER. The Tutanckai is due back at Wellington to-day from French Pass lighthouses. She will go on the patebt slip for cleaning and painting before making a visit to the southern lighthouses. o WEST lIENSHAW AT AUCKLAND. The Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer West Henshaw arrived at Auckland on Thursday from Pacific Coast ports. Her cargo consists of lumber, case oil, and general merchandise. She will unload a quantity at Auckland, and the remainder at Napier. Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The vessel is duo here about. December 12. KIA ORA HOMEWARD BOUND. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company advises that the Kia Ora left Port Stanley, Falkland Islands, last Saturday evening for London, via Montevideo, en route from Wellington. The vessel sailed from Wellington on October 24. SUSSEX AT CALCUTTA. Advice has been received by the Union Company that the Sussex arrived at Calcutta on November 13 from Newcastle, via Batavia. She will load there early next month for Auckland. Wellington, Lvttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff, via Rangoon, Penang, Singapore, and Saniarang. AUXILIARY VESSEL MARGOT. According to the Shipping World the Swedish steel auxiliary vessel Margot, 391 tons gross, built at Svendborg in 1910, classed Bureau Veritas, oil engines (4 cyl.) 11 4-5 by 16 11-20 in stroke, dimensions 139 ft Jin by 29ft 7in by lift, and owned by Kederi A/B Eegulus (Mr J. H. Pettersson), Ilelsingborg, has been sold to New Zealand buyers for about £SOOO. • . CARGO FROM PACIFIC COAST. The West Conob is scheduled to leave Los Angeles to-day for Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on December 14. The American steamer Dewey was despatched from Los Angeles on November 12 with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, and New Plymouth. She is due at Auckland on December 7. Tho West Calera is expected to leave Los Angeles on December 4 for Auckland and Wellington. DAMAGE TO RIO CLARO. The tramp steamer Rio Claro, which was ashore for over a month on Scott Reef, off Cairns (Queensland), was floated into Mort’s Dock (Sydney) on November 8 for survey. As a result of the examination, it was found that the damage, though not as serious as at first anticipated, will cost in the vicinity of £20,000 to repair. Many frames and floors will have to ho dealt with, and a number of plates which are badly dor.ted will also have to be taken out and straightened. The Rio Claro was altogether 40 days on the reef, and in the meantime 30,000 cases of kerosene and benzine were jettisoned, and 12,000 cases were lightered ashore. One of tho same company's ships was standing by the stranded vessel for 17 days, and, in addition, there was the cost of two salvage tugs, the Coringa and Forceful, which were sent' from'Brisbane to tho scene, and eventually towed the Rio Claro clear of the reef. The Rio Claro, a steamer of 4806 tons, was on a voyage from New York when she stranded.

She is due at Wellington on January 10. The lonic will leave Southampton on December 31 with passengers and cargo for Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland on February 7, and at Wellington on February 14. The Pakoha is to sail from Liverpool on December 21 with cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on January 28. The Maimoa is to leave Southampton on January 29 with cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is duo at Auckland on March 8. THE BRITISH INVENTOR, The British Inventor, the first Isherwood “bracketlcss” tanker, which commenced her maiden voyage on July 8, returned to England in the middle of September last on the completion of her first round voyage. Built by Palmer’s Shipbuilding and Ivon Company (Ltd.), of Jarrow and Hebhurn, she sailed from the Tyne in ballast condition for Abadan, in the Persian Gulf, and returned to Grangemount fully laden with crude oil. On the outward trip, in ballast, she' experienced heavy weather in the monsoon, during which the bulkheads and decks were carefully examined by the ship's officers, but no sign of weakness or leakage could be found. On arrival at Grangemouth, a further thorough examination was made as Car as was practical by the owners, the builders, and the experts of Sir Joseph W. Isherwood, Bart., and the vessel was then found in first-class condition and ready for sea again. No repairs of even a minor character were required.
