APPOINTMENT OF BOARD

THE PERSONNEL ANNOUNCED

(Special ro Dails Times.) WELLINGTON, November lb. Under the terms of settlement of the Taupo waters dispute, arrived at between the Prime .Minister and the Native owners concerned, the Maoris conceded tneir pshing rights to the Crown, which, on its part, agreed to make an annual payment of £3OOO, plus half of any excess of that amount which might be received '-y way of fees for fishing licenses. A board, to be called the Tuwharetoa Trust Board, was provided for in the Act to administer the f mds on behalf of the Tuwharetoa tribe. The personnel of the board was announced by Gazette 'notice as follows: —Hoam To Heuheu (Tokaanu), Honi Pan Mariu (Tokaanu, Kahu Te Kuru (Kakahi), Paora Rokino 'Waipahihi), Pitiroi Mohi (Taupo), Taite To Tomo (Kakariki), Takinga Arthur Graco_ (Taupo), Honi Pan Mariu (Tokaanu). Kahu Te members of the board are to hold office tor two years from the date of their appointment, and thereafter until their successors may be appointed. The time and place for the first meeting of the hoard have been fixed by the Minister of Native Affairs for Wednesday next at Jones Hall. Tokaanu. At this meeting the board will be required to elect its chairman from amongst the members, and to arrange for the appointment of permanent officers. - The chief clerk of the Native Department (Mr G. P. Shepherd) has been appointed by the Minister to act as secretary pro tern.
