MILTON NOTES.

(From Odb Own Correspondent.) MILTON, November 19. GIRL GUIDES. . The formation of a Girl Guidos company in Milton has caught on exceedingly well, and the first B.P. Guides company is at full strength. The girls spend many pleasant afternoons out in the open air, learning the rudiments of camp life. The members were examined this week for their toymakers’ badges, and the articles made provided an interesting exhibit. A pack of “Brownies” has been formed, for girls from eight to 11 years of age, and their chosen motto is “Lend a Hand.” Mr V. W. Couch, atationmaster at Milburn, who has been transferred to a similar position at Wingatui, was entertained with Mrs Couch and family at a social by the residents of the Milburn district, when the opportunity was taken to present Mr Couch with a cutlery cabinet and a set of fish knives. Mr D. M Gregor, the chairman, in making the presentation, referred in appreciative terms to the obliging manner in which he had discharged his official duties, and to his interest in the social activities of the district.
