SCHOOL CURRICULUM.

THE PROPOSED INVESTIGATION-. CHARGES IN COMMITTEE. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, November 18. A deputation representing the New Zealand Educational Institute, consisting of Mr B. N. T. Blake (president), Mrs Fouhy, and Mr Penlington, waited on the Minister of Education (the Hon. R. A. Wright) to*day in regard to the constitution of the committee which is to undertake the revision of the primary school syllabus. The deputation asked that the investigation should cover the whole of the primary school curriculum, instead of merely the programme of work for Standards V and VI, as proposed, and that the institute should have greater representation on the committee. Two more members, and a third if necessary, were suggested in addition to the three already appointed. The Minister agreed to accede to the request that the whole of the primary school syllabus should be included in the scope of the inquiry, and he also ap proved of the appointment of two addi tional members on behalf of the institute, and a third if necessary. He suggested that as the members already appointed to the committee were all North Island representatives, in submitting additional names, the institute should consider the South Island and the selection of at least one country teacher. When the announcement of the personnel of the committee was made some days ago it was stated inadvertently that Mr W. Dinwiddie, of Napier, was to represent the school committees. This is not the case, as Mr A. Sando, of Wellington, is to act in that capacity, and Mr Dinwiddie as an independent member of the committee. Mr G. T. London has been selected, with Mr T. U. Wells, to represent the New Zealand Education Boards’ Association.
