SCHOOLMASTER REQUIRED FOR NEW ZEALAND DIVISION OF THE ROYAL NAVY. A Schoolmaster is required for the instruction of boys and ratings in H.M. Ships of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. The selected candidate will be first appointed to H.M.S, “Philomel,” stationed at Auckland, but will probably be transferred later and will be liable to appointment to any chit of H.M. Navy. Candidates must hold a teacher’s certificate, and should be prepared to teach the following subjects to the New Zealand University Matriculation standard:— Ordinary Public School subjects, and, in addition, practical mathematics, including algebra, logarithms, and single trigonometry, dement .ry mechanics, electricity, and magnetism.

They must be over 21 years of age and be physically fit, as to which they will be required to undergo medical examination as necessary. The selected candidate will be entered on probation for twelve months as acting Warrant Officer, during which period he will be liable to be discharged at any time if found unsuitable. An outfit gratuity of £3O will be payable, £25 on entry and the balance on conclusion of probationary period, and on confirmation as Schoolmaster (Warrant Officer). , The present daily rates of pay and allowances are:— Probationary Schoolmaster, 12s Gel.
