LIFE SAVING.
ro THE EDITOR Sir, —The recent sad fatality at Tomahawk Beach serves to draw the attention of nil swimmers to the necessity of having a knowledge of the art of life saving. It may not be generally known that, the Otago branch of the Royal Life Saving Society is at present forming classes for instruction in the art of life saving. Arrangements have been made to con duct the classes at the tepid baths on Monday evenings, and the instruction will bo given free. Every swimmer should have a working knowledge of the simple methods of rescue and resuscitation) as the know ledge is easily acquired, and one never knows when the opportunity or necessity may arise to put one’s knowledge to prac tical use It is much bettor to have the knowledge even If one is never called upon to use it than to he in the painful position of being ignorant of the methods when necessity arises. Any person interested can obtain all information about the classes from any member of the society or at the Tepid Baths on Monday evenings.—l am, etc., H. H. Henderson, President, Otago Centre, Royal Life Saving Society.
