MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Milton Boiough Council, held on Wednesday evening, was attended by the Ma’-or (Mr L. W. Potter), Grs C. Grey, H. E. Ransome, A. Rennie, H. J. Riddle. J. J. B. M’Kay, Uunedin, forwarded a cheque for £o, as deposit on the purenase of rO tons of ironwork from the collapsed water tower.—Received. It was agreed that the council support the Minister ol Railways proposal tor the establishment of district advisory boards to effect a better .understanding between the Railways Department and its customers. An application by the Milton Municipal Brass Band for lease of the Coronation Hall for a sacred concert on November 28 was granted on the usual conditions. . A detailed statement was received trorn Mr G. A. Lewin, town clerk. Dunedin City Council, showing the amount of heavy traffic (motor lorries! license fees received for the year ended March 31. 1926, and the apportionment between the local bodies according to tho mileage returns. Ihe Milton Borough Council’s share was £3 16s 7d. Bruce County Council’s share in apportionment of the fees was £163 3s Bd. A deputation from Milton Municipal Brass Band waited upon the council regarding the ownership of certain of the band instruments, _ which the Defence Department now claimed were its property, but which the deputation considered be longed to the citizens of Milton. —After discussion, the matter was held over, pending a search of the council’s minute hook. At the invitation of the council Mr E. Fletcher Roberts, engineer, Dunedin, submitted a report and estimate of cost of formation of small reservoir to provide permanent water supply. . His estimated cost of forming a 65,COCgallon reservoir, with new motor, alterations to pump, and 6733 ft of concrete pipe to connect with present main at site of the old tower, excavations, etc., was £3965, o; alternatively, £4405, with woldless steel pipes. It was decided to invite the engineer to meet the council in order to discuss tho proposals. Tho Works Committee’s report, presented by the chairman, showed that ordinary works had been carried out by the daymen during rhe past month The Finance Committee’s statement (or the month ended November 8 showed a debit balance on the borough’s general account of £2638 6s Id ; debit balance on cemetery account of £3l 19s 7d : and profit of £lO 3s Id on last month’s operations of the Municipal Pictures.—Accounts amounting to £391 19. s 4d were passed for payment.
