(Received Sept. 25, at 5.5 p.m.) The Port of Live tool Sanitary Authority's report for 1025 describes the dramatic rescue of two men who were gassed by the fumes from New Zealand cheese on board the Suffolk. The rescue was effected by men with smoke helmets. The Suffolk had discharged the cheese at Glasgow. Si., days later the second officer entered the lower hold at Liverpool, and immediately became unconscious. The first officer went to his aid, and was also overcome. The men were rescued with difficulty by a hclmoted party. The report attributes the accident to a rise of the temperature when refrigeration stopped at Glasgow, t’ us causing an increase of gas from the cheese.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
