- A SUDDEN COLLAPSE. (Per United Press .association.) GISBORNE, September 23. The ringing of the lire bell last night resulted in the death of James Thomson, aged 61 years, a saddler. Recently Thomson’s shop was destroyed by fire, and since then the ringing of the bell has alarmed him. Last night he got up and : nquired where the fi was, then became agitated, and collapsed and died in a few minutes. Deceased was born in Lanarkshire, and was formerly in business in Wellington. James Peters, aged 70 years, a bootmaker, died suddenly yesterday while digging his garden, where his wife, on discovering the body, collapsed with shock, dying a few hours afterwards. STEWARD DIES AT SEA. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 23. A steward named Dennison died on board the lonic after leaving Colon. MAN FATALLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 23, Francis James Holland, aged 39 years, who was injured through being thrown out of a milk cart which collided with a motor car, died in hospital to-night.
