SPIRITUAL REVIVAL.

BISHOP OF SALISBURY’S VISION. THE COMING AWAKENING. “It is certain there are already signs that the Living Power of God is working among ua. I aee it in the progress of the revision of the Prayer Book. I could see it in the wonderful spirit that passed all over the country when the general strike was called off, and in all ways the spirit of God is present and we have a revival coming.” So spoke Dr Donaldson, Bishop of Salisbury, recently when moving that the fourth report of the Missionary Council be received by the Church Assembly, then meeting at Church House, Westminster. He continued: “We are just awakening now in the years after the war to the critical situation in the world, and wo are also faced with the fact that wo cannot deny that all round the Church at present is unable to meet the demand, and so in ' conditions of impotence and distress, we are driven to prayer, to go to the God who made us, and ask help to W able to do our duty to our generation, We have now got a movement of concerted prayer. Ws started with a fellowship of prayer of CO, and now we have a sense of fellowship with pome 60,000 iu that movement. There is our need to-day, and the only supply to that need is the spirit of God. It is not only the Church of England that is raising its voice to God. We have approached other people. We cannot expect a great response from the great Roman Church, but the non-episcopal churches have risen with almost an identity of feeling. There is a movement of emergency prayer which is joining all Christian people in England to pray for one thing, to give us power to do things in our generation.” London bridge cost over £2,250,000 to construct. _ „
