ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

FISHERMAN DROWNED. The police have been advised that Robert Bruce Stanton, a fisherman, who resided at Karitane. was drowned yesterday morning whilst taking a launch across the Karitane bar. From the information received, it appears that the craft was struck by a particularly heavy sea and was capsized. The launch, which belonged to Mr T. Roberts, of Forth street, Dunedin, was later found washed up on the beach between Waikouaiti and Karitane, but although the police have been conducting . systematic search, no trace of the body has been found. The deceased, who was 45 years of age, was married, and leaves a wife and two children, the younger of whom is only five days old. Stanton was a well-known figure on the waterfront in Dunedin, and was generally known as “Captain” Stanton. SAD DROWNING FATALITY. Word has been received from the police at Balclutha that a six-year-old boy, Eion Francis Harrison Weyber, the son of Mr Chas. Weyber, of Balclutha, fell into the Molyneux River about 4 p.m. yesterday and was drowned. The police were dragging the river up till a late hour yesterday,. but so far the body has not been found. INFANTS’ SUDDEN DEATH. The twin infant daughters of Mr John Hollows, a taxi proprietor, of Mosgiel, died suddenly at Mosgiel yesterday afternoon. The children, who were 44 months old. were put into their cot about 3.30 p.m. by their mother, who, when she looked at them again about three hours Inter, found them both dead. An inquest will be held at Mosgiel at 3.30 this afternoon. CAR GOES OVER BANK. William Marsh, aged 41, who resides with his sister, Mrs Robertson, of Salcomb street, Kaitangata, was admitted to hospitalat 6 p.m. yesterday, suffering from a fractured right leg and injuries to the knee. The injured man, a Ford car, was proceeding to Dunedin from Kaitangata, and just outside Allanton the car skidded bndlv and went over a bank about 30ft high, Marsh being thrown heavily. FALL IN TUNNEL. James Parkhill, aged 25 years, who resides at 86 Prince Albert road. St. Kilda, was admitted to hospital on Saturday morning suffering from three fractured ribs received whilst jumping from one truck to another in the Caversham tunnel. FOOTBALLER DROPS DEAD. (Feb United Press Association.) HAMILTON, July 18. While playing football at Raglan on Saturday, a young man named Sydney Death, aged 26 years, a farmer, of Waingaro, dropped dead shortly after the start of the game. A post mortem examination is being held.
