INCIDENCE OF INSANITY

PROFESSOR ROBERTSON’S VIEWS. ENDORSED BY EXPERT OPINION. (Tress Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON. July 16 (Received July 17, at 5.0 p.m.) Experts endorse Professor Robertson’s remarks regarding the prevalence of insanity among unmarried persons. bsr Arhuthnot Lane declares that it is true of toth sexes, but particularly of women. Cynical bachelors may say that marriage is a lottery, but that does not alter the fact that marriage is the best condition of life. The national secretary of the Society for Lunacy Reform says that the majority of sufferers within his experience have married and separated, which he declares further endorses Professor Robertson’s contention. Mr F. E. Fremantle (a member of the House of Commons) says this is the first time that this definite statement has been made public from an authentic source. The obvious remedy is early marriage.—A. and N.Z. Cable
