(Received July I’/, at 5.5 p.m.) Tha spectacle of the execution of the conspirators who plotted against Mustapha Komal at Smyrna was of a revolting character, says the Daily Telegraph. The un. fortunate men were paraded through the streets, wearing only white shirts, to the various gallows. The climax of horror was reached when the hangman’s rope broke under Chukri Bp ,t ’s great weight. He fell to the ground and was still breathing and conscious. A second rope was found and Chukri was then rehoisted to the gallows and hanged.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
