THE SHARE MARKET.

DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Thera has been no outstanding features on the Dunedin Stock Exchange this week. Hanks and insurance shares have maintained recent prices, but business in industrial lines has not been active. Shipping has been particularly quiet also, and the fire in tho Westport mine has restricted business, though not nearly to the extent that has been reported in some quarters. Attention to this was drawn by tho chairman of the Dunedin Stock Exchange at the call yesterday afternoon. He said that a statement had been made in the weekly circular of tf well-known firm of Melbourne stockbrokers that the recent fire in the Mdierton section of tho mine destroyed 1,000,000 tons of coal. He had drawn the attention of the general manager of tho Westport Coal Company to the statement, and he had said that it was greatly exaggerated. Meat company shares eased during the week, from an offer of £lO to an offer yesterday of 5s less. New Zealand Breweries also eased during the past few days, while Staples showed an improvement on the prices ruling last weex, Dalgetys and Gcldsbrough, Morts both held firm, while National Mortgages aro proportionately easier, ex dividend There has been a certain amount of fluctuation in Kawaraus during the week, and an unusually large number of sales has been effected.
