BUY BRITISH GOODS.
TO THE EDITOR Sjr, At a time when the Prime Minister and his Ministers are trying to stress the points of the necessity of buying British goods and showing that our own welfare depends so much upon keeping our business within the Empire, it is surprising to see a local firm advertising an American article and particularly stressing its superiority over the English product. Advertising is the onlv means to let people know you have goods to sell, but indirectly to sell your own country for the sake of a few pence is a questionable gain. An open market is the means of breaking monopolies, and a protective tariff keeps our sta dard of living what it is in comparison with many foreign countries, but to single out a British product as an inferior article in a British community is hardly playing the game.—l am, etc., Ai.i. British.
