OTAGO HUNT CLUB.

The Otago Hunt Club held its weeklymeet on Saturday afternoon over the property of Mr Thos. Patterson at “Woodeaton.” The weather was ideal for hunting, and the ground, notwithstanding a week of rain, was in very good order. A good muster of followers started off at the back of Mr Patterson’s house over approximately a three-mile run. the first jump being a post and rail. After crossing the road another jump was taken, and the club made across paddocks, jumping several gorse hedges until nearing Green Island, where the trail took a turn to the left and up the hill to a post and rail. After clearing it a straight run was made across paddocks to the last jump, which consisted of a double gorse hedge crossing over the road, The run proved most enjoyable for those following, and the jumping was good throughout, no falls being recorded. _ The hounds worked bettor than ever, which is a credit to the club’s new huntsman (Mr M. Shine). After the run some jumping was indulged in over a made-up post and rail jump. The thanks of the club are again tendered to Mr Patterson for the of his fine property. Owing to the Dunedin Jockey Club’s races being held next Saturday, there will be no meet until the following Saturday, when it will be held at Wingatui. Among those following were the master (Mr L. Greenslade on Dandv, Miss M. Stathain on Bonnie Jean, Miss E. Smythe on a chestnut, Miss Aitken on a bay, Mr R. Brnnton on Heather Bloom, Mr H. W- Morrie. on Elaine, Mi L. J. Simpson on King Pm, Mr H. Abernethy on Heather Grey, Mr D. Hastie on Continuance. Mr W. Hastie on Grey Heather, Mr O. Hastie on Bushy, Mr W. Gault on Lucky Star, Mr Taverner on a bay, and several others.
