Matches postponed from the _ previous week were played , on' Saturday, and resulted as follows FIRST GRADE. Technical College 2, High School 1. Mornlngton 1, Y.M.C.A. 0. Maori Hill 5, Northern 1. Seacliff 8, Mosgiel 2. The following table gives the relative positions of the teams in the senior competition;—

TECHNICAL COLLEGE v. HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS. There was a moderate attendance at Culling Park, vvhfen Technical and High School met in, the first round. Although the' game was not of high standard, there was an element of fdst, exciting play, which, kept the spectators interested throughout. Prom’ the kick-off High School had a slight advantage of the play, but their forwards lacked cohesion in their movements, and the attacks broke down aigalnst the agility of the Technical players, who kept up with the play and gave the attackers small'latitude. Lattimer, on the right wing for High School, put in some good play, and several fine crosses were safely dealt' with by Holden in goal. Morrow, Technical’s centre-half, also proved a stumbling' block, ’ and frequently he turned defence into attack, but the steady play of Gould at back frustrated the Technical forward movements. Caskie, in goal, however had on a couple of occasions to use his fists to clear. A fine piece of play by Duncan had Technical defending hard, and Lattimer finished off with a nice centre to Brown, who essayed a header, which Hclden cleared by throwing outside. The corner kick'was cleared by Middlemans, and Witchall and Wright combined well on the left, taking play to the other end, where the winger's cross found Caskie and Gould undecided, and ’a goal was narrowly averted by Caskie coming out. Throughout the spell play moved rapidly from end to end, but at half-time neither side had registered a score.

Technical were the first to attack on the resumption of play, and Caskie coming out to clear a shot, misjudged the flight of the ball, which went to Batchelor, and the latter opened the scoring. Technical I,.'High School nil. Continuing the attack, Technical kept High School penned round their own goal until Caskie relieved, and a High School' attack was spoilt by Douglas handling the ball. The position of the play changed rapidly. Following a poor, shot by, M'Donald, the Technical cientre, Holden, at the other end, was called'on to stop a shot by Douglas. High School were pressing hard at this stage, and after a second attempt to goal by Duncan, Holden fell, and Brown dashing " in, , drew the scores level.' Succeeding play found Technical Old Boys battling hard, and the School goal was soon in danger, a cross-shot striking the upright, and rebounding outside. High School transferred play, only to be repulsed by the opposing backs, and Technical forced a from which WitChall got possession and scored with a fine drive. -Technical 2, High School 1. Following the kick-off, good, play between Lattimer and • Duncan saw the latter, just miss with a. good; shot. Both teams tested the goalkeepers without autess, although on one occasion matters looked serious for Technical until one of the_ defenders made a fortunate clearance. Play continued fast, both teams being welltrained, but Technical, mainly to their nippiness on defence, kept the High School vanguarff from getting within striking distance, and the game, controlled by Mr Ghent, ended:. ’ Technical College Old Boys. ... 2 goals. High School Old Boys .. iV .. 1 goal. MAORI HILL v. MORNINGTON. This match was played .on Prospect Park; which whs in good order. Northern wOn the toss, ahd Hill kicked off against a slight wind. Northern immediately carried the play to the Hill half, but were effectively checked, and held by the . defence of their opponents. From a strong clearance by Martin, Balk secured the ball, and just missed with a cross shot, M’QuaTrie saying in a clever manner. Northern'forced a corner, which was cleared by NeWall. Play wao then taken to Northern territory, and a determined assault was stopped by an accident to M'Pherson, who knocked; against Jones. Erratic play, followed,.until from a,breakaway OUVer, crossed, and Jonas scored t a well-deserved goal. The score at halftime was: Maori Hill 1, Northern nil. On resuming fast play was the order, the spectators being treated; to some very nno football. Northern’s forward hne was working together in a clever manner, but could hot break through. Morris, taking the ball from Northern,'sent the Hill in full cry for their opponents’ citadel. Coates fouled, and the-penalty kick taken by Balk was-saved by M’Quarrie. In a. few moments Balk found the net with -a. well-directed, shot. Northern pressed, and were awarded a penalty kick which, was disposed of in masterly fashion by Newell. Hill were showing splendid form, and a forward movement 1 ended. in Balk again scoring., -In a few moments followed - another gbal >;■ by Oliver and one more by Jones. Northern made a rally, however, and secured a welldeserved goal by MTavish. who made no mistake. Exciting play followed with no further scoring.. The final whistle left the score at: Maori Hill ... - ? goals Northern , I B oa * MORNINGTON v. Y.M-C.A. « Mornington met Y.M.C.A. on; their own ground, and registered their first win of the season by one gbal to nil. - Mr Preston was referee. Give-and-take play marked the opening stages of the game until Mornington set up a series of attacks. From one of these,,Walker opened up to Lee on the right wing, and the latter gave Wills (the Y.M.C.A. goalie? ho chance with a good shot. Resuming, Y.M.C-A. carried play into their opponents’ territory, only to be repulsed, by the backs, who transferred the ball to their vanguard, and Wills was again called on, and by smart work kept his goal intact. The Mornington back division safely held the Y.M.C.A. advances, but the Hill forwards in their turn could not further, pierce the defence, of the Reds, and the spell ended with the score unaltered. ( Resuming in the second half. : Y.M.C.A.’s goal was again in danger, but • Wills repeatedly withstood all shots. Several attacks by YM.C-A, were short-lived, mauily through lack of cohesion amongst the forwards. Watkins made a promising run for Mornington which ended in his shot at goal being’safely held bv Wills. The Hill team continued to press, but the stout defence put up by the Y.M.C.A. backs held them in check. Just before time Mornington s forwards broke through, and a score looked sure, but Watkins failed in his attempt at goal. Final result: Mornington ... 1 S^oal Y,M C.A. ... ... ... Nil SEA CLIFF v.
