MACLAGGAN STREET.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As a resident I take strong exception to the remarks about Maclaggan street by a certain individual in this morning’s issue of the Daily Times. Such remarks are calculated to cause strangers to form a false impression of the residents of whom the majority are highly.respected peace-loving, and law-abiding citizens. Such remarks as “White-washing the street” casts reflections on all the residents residing there, and are intolerable, especially when uttered by interlopers why assume the role of self-appointed adjudicators. X’erhaps the whitewash bush could be very effectively applied with good results much nearer home than by making a wholesale attack on the residents of Maclaggan street. I respectfully ask your informant to have the courtesy to withdraw his remarks relating to the whole street, and state definitely where he hoard the language that is complained of, and also to state whether the offender was a permanent resident or not, and thereby remove the slur which we so keenly feel and so strongly resent. —I am, etc.. Resident. May 2S.
