THE EXHIBITION BONUS. TO TBS EDITOB. Sis,—ln reply to Mr Spence, permit me to Bav that we did not receive _ overtime _ rates. Some of the employees not included in the bonus worked all day and night, before tea oiening day of the Exhibition, and also were working while the Exhibition was being ©on-Blru-.ted. They received £3 l&s per week if the weather was fine —I am, etc., Akotker Escnmnn. May 2S.

Sis,—Air Spence, secretary of the tion Company, states that those Xo or 17 met who jeceived no bonus worked award hours and received award wages. For one, I can prove that to be contrary to fact*. Let Mr Spence look up ths time-sheets and pav-shet to if he requires to bo convinced. I ’ mvself, worked on an average of nine hours' a day, holidays included, ana omy received, ordinary tune. Not only that, but mv hours were broken, starting at 8 a.m, to' IX p.m., and, after going off for the afternoon, coming back at 5 mm. to lu p.m. Ido not think that Mt Spence can derm that these were award time and rates. —I am, etc., Also Excluded. to the editor. Sir. —In this day’s issue ot the Times Hr Spence is reported to have said, in reply to mv letter, that only those receiving a weekly wage and who corked under no award all through the Exhibition received the bonus, and all those who worked under an award received award wages and ove-time rates. In this Mr Spence is quite wrong, as not one ot the 17 men In question received anv overtime rates since the opening dav which dav, I believe, was paid prior to the closing. Four ot these 17 at least were paid a weekly wage, and had been working prior to the opening, and all through. It is not exactly the bonus v.a want, but our rights. —I am, etc.. May 27. Excluded.
