Ministerial. The Hon. G. J. Anderson, Minister of Labour, Mines, and Marine, accompanied by his yirivate secretary (Mr F. M. Sherwood), feft Gore yesterday morning for Tapanui and Kelso, and arrived in Dunedin in the evening by the train from Beaumont. He will leave for Christchurch by the express this morning, and w' 1 proceed to the West Coast to-morrow He expects to be back in Wellington on Tuesday. The Hon. D. T. Fleming was on a visit to Dunedin from Balclutha yesterday. Mr D. G. M’R< bie travelled to Christchurch by the through express yesterday. Mr and Mrs Aufrere Fenwick arrived in Dunedin from Christchurch last night. Mr Forsyth Johnston left Dunedin by yesterday’s late express for the north. The Rev. H. T. Blair passed through Dunedin yesterday on his way back to Milburn. Mr H. Credgington, director of the Casa d’Arta Italiana, left Dunedin for Christchurch by train yesterday. The annual meeting of the Manictoto County Council on Wednesday unanimously re-elected Cr Ramsay as chairman. Mr A. L. Downes and Mr S. W. Holland, of the staff of the British Court at the Exhibition, left Dunedin yesterday morning for Wellington. Mr T. H. Hiddlestone, designer to the Mosglel Woollen Mills, has been appointed assistant general manager of the Federal Woollen Mills at Geelong, and will leave to take up his new duties early in July. Captain M. B. MacDonald, Commissioner for the Wellington province at the Exhibition, left Dunedin yesterday morning on his return to Wellington. Dr T. F. M'Kibbin, Director of Public Hygiene, left for Wellington by the through express yesterday after spending a few days in Dunedin. The Rev. W. R. Hume and the Rev. R. Alley, who have been on a visit to Dunedin, returned south by the through express yeuerday. Our London correspondent, writing on April 23, reports that Dr C. M. Stenhouse (Balclutha) and Mr P. Herbert (formerly of Dunedin) were recent callers at the High Commissioner’s Office. Miss Mi Trainor, who is leaving the employ of Messrs C. H. Austen and Co., was presented with a cheque at a gathering held at the residence of Mrs Austen on Tuesday evening. Mr Ernest E. Jenks, managing director of the Alexander 1 Hamilton Institute, Sydney, arrived in Wellington by the Marama on Tuesday. Accompanied by Mr David M’Millan, he will arrive in Dunedin on Monday next. The Rev. R. L. and Mrs Walker, of Ravensbourne, left Dunedin by the through express yesterday on their way to Matawhero, Gisborne, where Mr Walker has been appointed minister. Our London correspondent, writing on April 23, s ates that the New Zealand friends of Sir Arthur Myers will be glad to hear that he is making satisfactory progress after his recent severe attack of pneumonia. He is, however, still confined to bed, but it is hoped that he will be able to leave it for a short period in a day or two. Naturally, he will have to be very careful for a long time to come, but hopes are entertained that he will make a complete recovery in due course.
