A report from Akita states that this afternoon, with a tremendous roar, the Mayama irrigation ■ reservoir in the Akita prefecture, in Northern Japan, burst its banks, sweeping away half the town of Kitaura. . Accurate details are not available owing to the interruption of communications. It is officially announced that many buildings were washed away. The dead bodies of five men and 15 women so far have been discovered. It is presumed that the casualties will be comparatively small, as the disaster took place in the daytime.—Reuter.
