OTAGO CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. Tho Otago Golf Club’s championship was continued on the Balniacewen Links on Saturday afternoon under ideal weather conditions. The first round of match play was played, the results being as follow: K. Rosa beat E. A. Reed, 4 and 3. V. E. Galway heat K. B. Lambert, 2 and 1. G. F. Barnett beat E. W. Cave, 6 and 5. J. <t. Dick beat H- Brasch, 6 and 4. G. C. Henderson beat A. N, Haggitt, 3 and 2. D. H. Butcher beat H. W. Dick, 4 and 3. C. T. Irvine beat J. K. Callender, at the 21st hole. S. C. Colbeck beat C. Turnbull, 6 and 4. BALMACEWEN ’CUP. The Balmacewen Cup competition (first round) was also played. The matches resulted as follow: G. H. Whitcombe beat D. Ramsay, 8 and •2. H. C. Rose beat R. do K. In the annual golf match between Wellington and Christchurch the former won decisively, only Pumphrey and Whitcombe, from the southern city, managing to defeat their opponents, while the home players were successful in every one ot the morning fourballs.
