Ministerial. An Auckland Press Association telegram says that the Prime Minister arrived in Auckland yesterday, and will address the Eden electors to-night. Mr P. Cameron left Dunedin yesterday morning for Christchurch. Mr Harison Cook was a passenger by yesterday’s late express for the north, on route for Wellington. Mr A. A. Paupe was a passenger by yesterday’s late express for the north, en route for Wellington. Sir Heaton and Lady Rhodes will arrive in Wellington to-day, and will proceed to Auckland, where Sir Heaton is to be entertained at dinner by the officers of the Defence Department. Mr J. P. Hayes, who has been visiting Dunedin, left yesterday morning on his return to Nelson. Mr W. A. Flavell, general manager of the Westport Coal Company, left Dunedin yesterday morning for Wellington. Mr S. E. Fay, of the equipment branch of the Railways Department, left Dunedin yesterday afternoon for the south. Mr R. T. Stewart will leave by the second express this morning for Christchurch*and the West Coast. Mr R. A. Bach, formerly of the Timaru Post Office, has been appointed superintendent of mails at the Dunedin Post Office. A Napier Press Association telegram announces that the Rev. Frank de Lisle, of the Newtown Congregational Church, Wellington, has accepted a call to the Miller Memorial Congregational Church, Napier. Mr J. C. Stephens will leave this forenoon on a visit to England. He will.be a passenger by the Argyllshire, which takes her departure from Wellington on Thursday. Mr J. H. Hampton, who has been for the past five years superintendent of the Rarotonga (Cook Islands) radio station, arrived in Wellington by the Tahiti yesterday. Mr Hampton has been promoted to the charge of the Wellington wireless station at Tinakori Hills. .Mr G. S. Lynde (chief mechanical engineer) ,* Mr H. J. Wynne (electrical and signalling engineer), and Mr G. W. Wiles (assistant electrical engineer of the Railways Department) left Dunedin yesterday morning for Wellington. Mr Hiram Hunter, ex-workers’ member of the Arbitration Court, has been apnointed national organiser of the Drivers’ Federation (says a Press Association message from Christchurch). Prior to his departure from Dunedin to take up the role of “mine host” of the Fairlie Hotel, Mr J. Griggs was yesterday invited to meet a few friends at the Excelsior Hotel. Mr Griggs was preserved vmh a solid gold cigarette case, and the individual members of a representative gathering took the opportunity of voicing genuinely expressed opinions' of the great esteem which Mr Griggs has won during his residence in Dunedin. Several of his social and sporting friends also expressed regret at Mr Griggs's departure from Dunedin, and took the opportunity of wishing Mr and Mrs Griggs the best of luck in their new home. Miss Given, of Messrs Mondy, Monro and Stephens’s stenographing staff, was presented on Saturday with a handsome box of chocolates at the conclusion of the main sewer arbitration proceedings, which occupied 10 days. Mr Godfrey, the chairman of the court, in handing the gift to Miss Given, spoke in complimentary terms of fhe splendid work which she had performed throughout the proceedings. Miss Given suitably acknowledged the gift. Shortly be'fore the staff left the Commercial Bank last evening the members assembled in the manager’s room for the purpose of making a presentation to the accountant (Mr Walter Crow), who has Iwen promoted to the position of manager in the Wellesley street branch of the bank in Auckland. The presentation, which was made by Mr S. Angel (local manager), was in the form of a handsome leather attache case. In making the presentation. Mr Angel, on behalf of the staff, expressed their regret at losing their accountant, but wished him every success in his well-merited promotion. The manager’ remarks were endorsed by several members of the staff. Air Crow suitably responded. The Earl of Stradbroke, the retiring Governor of Victoria, with the Countess of Stradbroke and his son, Viscount Dul wich, arrived in Auckland yesterday afternoon by the Aorangi on their way to Vancouver (says a Press Association message). The visitors were the guests of the Governor-General (Sir Charles lergnsson) at Government House last night, and will resume their voyage to-day. Others who will leave by the Aorangi are Sir Harold Beauchamp, who will visit Canada, the United States, Great Britain, and the Continent, Dr Malcolm T. Mao; Eachern, the American surgeon who has been inspecting New Zealand hospitals, the Hon. W. Pember Reeves, who has si ent five months in the Dominion, and Mr F. W. Furkert (chief engineer of th" Public Works Department), who will make an extended tour abroad. Colonel J. K. Watson (King’s Royal Rifles) arrived with the Earl of Stradbroke, and will stay at Government House until he leaves with Sir Charles Fergusson for the Cook Islands.
