The Progress is due here on April 19 from Pokianga, via Wellington, with a part cargo of timber. After discharge she will load general cargo for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Port Waikato. The Cumberland will leave Port Chalmers on Thursday for Bluff, to continue loading for London and West of England ports. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise:; that the Turakina is to leave Auckland to-day for Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and Avonmouth, via Panama. The Kartigi is due at Dunedin at the end of this week from Lyttelton to load for Wei lineton. Nelson, New Plymouth, Westport, and Greymouth. The Katoa is due at Dunedin on Thursday from Auckland, via ports, to discharge and load general cargo. She Is listed to sail on Friday for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Scottish-Shire liner Argyllshire arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from Bluff to complete loading. She Is timed to leave Wellington at daybreak on Friday for London, via Panama. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Hororata left Loudon on April 9. with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Napier, and Wellington. She Is due at Auckland about May 15. The Kurow is to leave Auckland on Thursday with general cargo for discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Kaituna is to load at South Australian ports towards the end of this month fo" Auckland, Wellington, and Castlecilff. The Orari arrived at Melbourne on April 3 from Hobart. From Melbourne she will go to Adelaide. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Baron Murray is expected to rail fiom St. Jthn (New Brunswick) on April 20 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton. and Hunedin. The liner Hurunui Is due at Auckland on Thursday from Newcastle to load under the auspices of the Federal Line for West of England ports. The vessel will also load at Gisborne, Wanganui, New Plymouth. Lyttelton, and Wellington, sailing from Wellington ou May 8. Advice received by the local agents for the Commonwealth and Dominion Line states that the Port Hacking has been delayed in Australia, and is. now expected to arrive at Auckland from Brisbane on April 19. MANUKA LEAVES MELBOURNE. Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the Manuka left Melbourne at 5 p.m. ou Friday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin with passengers, mails, and cargo. She is due at Wellington tomorrow, and at Dunedin on April 18. The vessel is timed to sail from this port on April 19 for Bluff and Melbourne. o . ; PORT HOBART FROM LONDON. The O. and D. Line's motor ship Port Hobart arrived at Lyttelton late on Saturday night from London, via Panama. The vessel is laden with general merchandise for discharge at Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, New Plymouth, and Nelson. She is due at this port on Friday next. KAIKOURA TO LOAD, The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Kaikoura is now due at Port Chalmers on April 19 from Lyttelton to continue Homeward loading. She is to sail on April 24 for Wellington to complete loading. WAIHEMO FROM PACIFIC COAST. The Union Company advises that the steamer Waihemo from Pacific Coast ports, is now due at Napier to-morrow morning. The vessel is bringing general Canadian and American cargo for discharge at Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin, and New Plymouth. KAWATIRI FROM FIJI. The Union Company advises that the Kawatiri is expected to arrive at Lyttelton this evening from Suva. The vessel is bringing a quantity of island fruit. The captain has advised by wireless that the freight is in good condition. NORFOLK HOMEWARD BOUND. A cablegram to the New Zealand Shipping Company annonces that the Norfolk arrived at Curacao on April 5, and sailed again the same day for London. The vessel left Wellington on March 13. THE CANADIAN MILLER. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co, advise that the Canadian Government Line steamer Canadian Miller arrived at Auckland on Saturday evening from Halifax, via Panama. The vessel is laden with general Canadian cargo for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington. Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. She is due here about April 23. SULPHUR FROM TEXAS. An arrival at Auckland on Saturday was the steamer Anglo-Coiumbian, from Texas, under charter to G. H. Scales and Co. She is carrying a cargo of sulphur of which 3900 tons will be unloaded at Auckland. The remainder is for Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, and New Plymouth. TO LOAD WOOL FOE LONDON. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. Advise that the C. and D. Line steamer Port Curtis has been fixed to load wool at Port Chalmers about May 14 for London and Continental ports. The Port Hardy, of the same line, will also load wool at Port Chalmers about the middle of May for London. THE CITY OF MELBOURNE. The local agency for the A. and A. Line has been advised by cable that the steamer Citv of Melbourne” sailed from New York on March 31 with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin, and Australian ports. The vessel is due at Auckland about May 6, and at Dunedin about May 20. THE WEST NIVARIA. Later advice received by Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co. states that the Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer West Nivaria left Los Angeles on April 8 for Auckland direct. She is bringing general merchandise, case oil, and lumber for discharge at Auckland, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Sydney. The West Nivaria is due at Auckland about May 3, and at Dunedin about May 20. MATAKANA’S MOVEMENTS. The Shaw-Savill Comnany’s steamer Matakana, is to leave Auckland this morning for Wellington. The .twin-screw motor ship Olivebank (5200 tons gross) has been delivered to Messrs Andrew Weir and Co. (Bank Line, Ltd.), after completing very satisfactory official trials in *he Firth of Clyde Built by Harland and Wolff (Ltd.), Govan, and equipped with « pair of Harland-B. and W. motors, she is 434 ft by 53ft 9in by 37ft, and is classed 100 Al at Lloyd’s. The double bottom, which extends right fore and aft, is used for the carriage of water ballast, oil fuel, or fresh water. The cargo hatches are worked by 12 of the builders’ special built B‘eel derricks, suitable for 5-ton lifts, rigged in the most approved manner for the rapid handling of cargo, and attached to two steel-pole masts and lour derrick posts. In addition, a heavy derrick is fitted at the after side of the fore mast for handling lifts up to 25 tons. Seven water-tight or oil-tight bulkheads, .extending to the upper deck, divide the vessel into five cargo holds, motor room and fore and after peaks. The holds are fitted with cargo hatches of ample size. No. 3 hold is arranged to act either as a deep tank or for the carriage of ordinary or oil cargo as required. TRANS-PACIFIC CARGO SERVICE. The Union Company announces the following movements of vessels engaged in the trans-Paciifie cargo service: Wairuna, now loading at Pacific Coast ports for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and- Sydney, is expected to leave San Francisco about the middle of April for Auckland. Waiotapu, from Newcastle, is due at Van. couver on April 14. Waitemata left Wellington on April 10 for Vancouver direct. ' Hauraki was to leave Wellington on Sat urdny for Melbourne, thence Adelaide and Sydney. She will return to the Pacific Coast. The forward loading dates at Pacific Coast ports are approximately as follows: Waiotapu loads at Vancouver and San Francisco during April for Auckland, Weilinrton, Melbourne, and Sydney. Waitemata loads at Vancouver and San, Francisco early in May for Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, and New Plymouth. Hauraki loads at Vancouver and San Francisco during May for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney.
