SALE OF TROTTING STOCK.
MR B. JARDEN’S OFFERING. HIGHEST PRICE-450 GUINEAS. (From Our Special Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. There was a large attendance of trotting enthusiasts at Yaldhurst to-day when a sale was held on behalf of the well-known trotting trainer, Mr B. Jarden, who contemplates leaving shortly on a visit to America. The horses offered included young stock and brood mares. Some of the young ones atraoted considerable competition, but only about half of them were disposed of, the balance failing to reach the reserves placed on them. The highest price (fSOgns) was realised for the three-year-old gelding Actor by Author Dillon from Marie Tempest. The bidding for him started at SOOgns, arid lie quickly advanced to 450gns, at which he was 'knocked down to Mr J. Jack. He* will join Prince Pointer and Kotuku Jack in Ur K. E. Mills’s stable at New Brighton. The two-year-old gelding Aspect, by Author Dillon from Too Soon, started at lOOgns and was knocked down to W. J. Tomkinson, acting for Mr G. J. Barton, at 200gns, to which has to be added a contingency of £SO from his first win. Tlie remainder of the lots realised smaller prices, while the two-year-old sister and the yearling brother of Actor were passed in, each at 20flgns. The property, consisting of 115 acres with an eight-roomed bungalow also stables and two tracks, was submitted in two lots, but was not sold. , The following are the details of the sale of the horses; Bay gelding Achray, two years, by Author Dillon —Belleua, passed in at 200gns; crown gelding Actor, three years, by Author DillonMarie Tempest, Mr J. Jack, 450gns, bay gelding Aspect, two years, by Author Dillon —Too Soon, Mr G. J. Barton, 200gna; Dillon —Marie Tempest, passed in at £200; bay filly, one year, by Author Dillon Oneida, Mr T. Capstick, 25gns; bay colt, one year, by Author Dillon—Marie Tempest, passed in 200gns; brown colt, one year, by lirept Locanda— dam by Prince Imperial, Mr D. Coleman, 23gns; bay filly, one year, by Author Dillon— Seaspray, passed in at 35gns; bay gelding, five years, by Logan Pointer — Geranium, passed in at 30gns; bay gelding, two years, by Realm—dam by Petereta, passed in at lOOgns; may mare Oneida, by Rothschild—Lady Agnes, in foal to prince Derby, Mr D. Coleman, lOgns; bay gelding two years, by Author Dillon —Madam Sliaw, passed in at 30gns; bay mare, Our Girl, by Wallaces L —lmperience, in foal to Worthy Bond, Mr A. Hendriksen, 43gns; bay_ mate, by O.Y’.M.—dam by Prince Imperial, in foal to Author Dillon, Dr Haskins, 12tgns. On account Mr It. Peters; Chestnut gelding Nighborn, aged, by Charlie M’Kinney Maid of Perth, passed in at lOOgns. On account of Mr W. D. Barrett, bay mare Hanui, five 5-cars, by Harold Dillon—dam by Starchild, no bid.
