HARBOUR BOARD CHARGES.

TO THE EDITOR. gjft \ correspondent complained recently of the Harbour Board’s generosity at tlie expense of payers of dues, but as far us the community is concerned the transactions are transfers from one pocket to another. My complaint is that the board continues to throw away the legitimate revenue of the port by its scale of.charges, and I know that consignments of certain classes of produce go to Bluff regularly from Gatlins and Lawrence lines owing to the duos at tfiis port being equal to 15s and 17s 6d per 20ewt against 2s at Bluff. A reasonable adjustment would probably bring the trade here.—l am, etc., A. Dunedin, April 9.
