Friday, April 9. Calm, s.s. (11.55 p.m.), 892 tons, Sharpe, for Wanganui, via ports. The Waipahi arrived here yesterday morning from Auckland, via ports, with general cargo and transhipments ex the Aorangi from Vancouver. She is to sail to-day for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Kamo arrived at Dunedin yesterday morning from Lyttelton and Bluff. Owing to a shortage of labour she lay idle throughout the day, but the Union Company hope to despatch her to-day for Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne, via ports. The Calm, which arrived here yesterdaymorning from Wanganui, via ports, sailed late last night for Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington and Wanganui. The Storm arrived late yesterday afternoon from Wanganui, via ports. She will load ■wool at Port Chalmers and sail to-day for Wellington direct. The vessel will return to Dunedin about April 14 to load for Timaru. Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Line steamer Mahia went to Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon to load wool and other products for England. She is to sail to-day for New Plymouth to continue loading. The A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Rnaresbro is now timed to sail to-day for Tort Pirie, where the remainder of her New J York cargo will be discharged. The Breeze is due at Dunedin to-morrow , from Lyttelton, and is timed to sail on Monday evening for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Argyllshire is to leave Bluff to-day for Wellington to complete loading for London. The ferry steamer Wahine made a fast passage of about nine hours on her daylight run from Wellington on Tuesday last, reaching Lyttelton at 5.25 p.m. The Kairanga, with timber and coal from Newcastle, is due at Wellington to-morrow. The Waimana arrived at Lyttelton on Thursday from Napier. She is expected to Bail on April 13 for Wellington, where she completes her loading and sails about April 20 for London, via Montevideo and Tenexiffe. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Tasmania was expected to leave New Plymouth yesterday to continue her Homeward loading at Wanganui roadstead and Wellington. The vessel is to sail finally from Wellington on April 17 for London, via Montevideo. The Shaw-Savill Company advises that the Mamari will complete her loading, and sail from Auckland to-morrow for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Turakina left Wellington on Thursday for Auckland, thence she will sail finally for Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and Avonmouth. The New Zealand ' Shipping Company’s steamer Rotorua loft Auckland on Thursday for Napier to continue her loading. Thence she will proceed to Lyttelton and Wellington, Bailing from the latter port on April 24 for Southampton and London, via Pitcairn Island, Panama, and Curacao. ATHOLL FROM NEW YORK. Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co. advise that the steamer Atholl is due at Dunedin tomorrow from New York, via Lyttelton, to discharge a large quantity of general American cargo. She will sail about Tuesday for Hobart and Launceston to complete discharge. KAWATIRI WITH FRUIT. Cable advice has been received stating that the Kawatiri cleared Suva at 11 p.m. on Tuesday for Lyttelton with 2500 cases of bananas. KAIKOURA’S PROGRAMME. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Kaikoura is now due at Port Chalmers on April 16 from Lyttelton to load frozen meat, fruit, and general cargo for London. She is scheduled to sail on April 20 for Wellington to complete her cargo. INCOMING SAN FRANCISCO MAIL. A cable message received by the Union Company states that the R.M.S. Tahiti arrived at Rarotonga at 8 a.m. on Monday last from Papeete and San Francisco. She was timed to leave Rarotonga on Tuesday for Wellington and Sydney. She is due at Wellington on Monday morning. SALLY MAER.SK FROM CANADA. Cable advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the motor ship Sally Maersk left Newport News on April 4 for Auckland, en route from St. John. The vessel is carrying Canadian cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australian ports She. is due at Auckland about May 10. THE ANGLO-COLUMBIAN. The steamer Anglo-Columbian, which sailed from Sabine, Texas, on March 6, with case oil for discharge at Auckland, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, and New Plymouth, is expected at Auckland about to-day. WEST NIVARIA FROM PACIFIC COAST. Cable advice received states that the Swayno and Hoyt Line steamer West Nivana left. San Francisco on April 6 with general cargo, case oil, and lumber for discharge at Auckland, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Sydney* She is due at Auckland about May 2, and at Dunedin about May 15. AMERICAN SOUTH AFRICAN LINE. Five cargo steamers of about 8500 tons deadweight each have been purchased for the American-South African Line, which is to be formed in New York. Green, of the Waipahi, has been granted sick leave, and Captain H. Hurley has taken his place. Mr A. Inverrarity has relieved Mr A. Sadler as chief engineer of the Komata. Mr J. M‘Lean has joined the John as second engineer, vice Mr C. V. Thurston. Mr D. Burgess has joined the Kauri as second oiKcer, while Messrs S. B. Ward (chief officer) and J. E. Clements (extra officer) have left the vessel. OIL TANKER PLEIODON. The tanker Pleiodon arrived at Wellington on Monday evening last from Singapore, via Melbourne. The vessel left Singapore on March 11 and arrived at Melbourne on the night of March 29. She cleared the latter port the following morning for Wellington, and on the run across the Tasman, fine southerly weather was experienced, the voyage being uneventful. She brought 6700 tons of benzine in bulk, and 10,000 cases and 6000 drums of motor spirit, also 300 tons of fuel oil. The Pleiodon is the second tanker to bring benzine to Wellington in bulk, the first being the Mures, several months ago. The Pleiodon discharged 500 tons of benzine at Melbourne. The vessel is of 5819 tons gross and was built in 1922 by the Hongkong and Whampoa Dock Company (Ltd.), Hongkobg, for the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company. Her principal dimensions are: Length 412 ft, breadth 53ft, depth 31ft. Captain G. H. Cole is in command. CUMBERLAND AT PORT CHALMERS. The Federal Line steamer Cumberland arrived at this port yesterday morning from England, via Curacao, Colon, Panama, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. The vessel was berthed at Port Chalmers, where the remainder of her Home cargo will be discharged. The Cumberland loaded her freight at Glasgow, Avonmouth, Newport (Mon.), and Liverpool. She cleared the latter port on January 30, and for the first few days of her voyage encountered very stormy conditions. Heavy seas continually broke on board, flooding the decks. The steamer reached Curacao on the morning of February 14 and after replenishing her oil supply, continued her voyage on the same day. Two days later she arrived at Colon, but as one of the locks was not working, the Cumberland was compelled to wait until February 18 before she could obtain transit through the Panama Canal. Coming across the Pacific Ocean the steamer experienced favourable weather until after leaving Pitcairn Island, when south-westerly gales with heavy eeas were encountered. These conditions continued almost until arrival at Auckland on March 12. The Cumberland is commanded by Captain G. T. Deith, who has with him the following officers;—Chief, Mr D. Horne; second, Mr E. Hopkins; third, Mr D. Murray-, fourth, Mr J. Marks; ship’s surgeon. Dr H. Crockett; wireless operator, Mr F. Grinder; chief engineer, Mr J. Mitchell; second, Mr R. Cairns; third. Mr H.
