DUNEDIN FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association was held on Thursday aiternoon. There were present: Mrs Sidey (in the chair), Mesdames Batham, Bnckell, Ewing, Evans, Hanan, K. Hudson, Hutchison, M'Lean, Phillips, E. Theomin, Taverner, Misses Kelsey and Ulrich. Various reports were handed in and the committee felt much gratified to hear from the teachers how many mothers were taking advantage of having .the kindergarten in their mindsi, this being particularly noticeable in North-East Valley, Caversham, and St. Kilda, where the rolls in all three schools are practically full. Unfortunately whooping cough is very prevalent in Caversham and St. Kilda districts, but it is hoped that the school attendance will not be materially affected, and that a good average may still be maintained. The teachers wrote with enthusiasm of the successful mothers’ meetings and sewing meetings that were being held, the latter with a view to holding a sale of work with which to augment local funds. The collector (Miss Brown) handed in £24 Os 6d, in which sum eight new subscriptions were included. It was decided to hold the annual meeting cn May 4. Tnc Mayor will preside.
