BOWLING GREENS.

TO 111 k. EDITOR. Sin,—l beg to take exception to the statement by “Jack" in the bowling notes in your issue of April 8, that the Otago bowling green ts the best in the centre, etc. If such Is really his idea of greens, I have a very poor opinion of “Jack's” judgment. For his information 1 can, with confidence, say that expert players from every part of New Zealand and the Old Band, as well as from Australia, have classed the Roslyn green as being one of the finest playing greens in New Zealand, or, as a matter of fact, in the world. I am therefore quite prepared to give “Jack" some tips on picking his greens, and will class them as follows:—Roslyn green, first; Caledonian and Dunedin, about equal (second) ; Kaltuna, third; Otago, fourth (amongst the other greens). His remarks about greenkeepers is unworthy of any comment. They are all good men In Dunedin, and at all Omes do their level best to make a first-class playing surface for their respective clubs.—l am, etc.. An Ot.d Bowler.
