LAUGHING MURDERER.
GAY AT DEATH SENTENCE. Smiling to the last, Harry Thompson, 36, a miner, was .sentenced lo death at Kent Assizes recently for the murder of Rose Smith, the wife of a petty officer in (he Navy. Throughout the whole proceedings Thompson was laughing and smiling. It was stated that he had been living with the woman since September, and earlv this month cut her throat with a razor. At the police station, after being arrested, he treated the matter lightly, and started to sing a Welsh song When charged, he said he was guilty, and would he just as game to “peg out” hints' lf . In the box be said he did not remember anything that happened at the time of the tragedy He received the death sentence, passed by Mr Justice Horridge, with a smile, said, ‘‘Thank you, my lord,” and ran down the dock steps after waving his hand to some friends at the back of the court, and smiled as he disappeared from view*
