At the inquest on Mrs Lilian Castloton, of Eureka, who succumbed to injuries from burning as the result of her clothing catching fire while washing at the copper, a verdict of death from shock was returned. Joyce Porter, aged six years, died in the hospital this morning as the result of injuries caused through being knocked down by a cyclist at Islington. The police are investigating. FALL FROM WHARF. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 8. Samuel Garrett, a fireman on the steamer Crossbill, while stepping from the pier to the vessel, lost bis balance and fell into the harbour, where he floated face downwards until a seaman from the H.M S. Dunedin and anoth •• man rescued him. He was then unconscious, but was resuscitated after some time. He was removed to the Dunedin's sick bay and later sent to hospital. KILLED BY A TRAIN. (Per United Fbess Association.) NAPIER, April 5. Benjamin Joseph Cosgrove, aged about 50 years, retired saddler and conductor of the Waipawa Municipal Band, was killed by a train at Waipawa station this evening. Ten minutes after the train went out his body was found on the line. It is assumed that Cosgrove attempted either to board or alight from the train while it was moving, and fell between two carriages. The deceased suffered severe injuries to the head and arm.
