LABOUR PARTY.
IN FAVOUR OF DISARMAMENT. (Pdi United Press Association.) WANGANUI, April 8. The conference cf the New Zealand Labour Party was concluded to-day Among the motions earned was the following regarding defence; — “That the Labour Party wholeheartedly supports dis armament by agreement among the nations and declares that it will be prepared to face tue probem of defence on assuming the office of Government in the light of that policy and will be guided by the circumstances prevailing at that time as to the extent to which disarmament can be achieved or defence is necessary.’’ The election of officers resulted as follows;—President, Mr R. Semple; vice-president, Mr J. Thorne, provinri ' members of executive, Messrs W. E. Barnard (Helensville), D. W Coleman! Gisborne), J. H. Terry (New Plymouth), W. J. Rogers (Wanganui), W. Beaver (Taumaranui), E. Gpurr (Lower Hutt), T, Parfitt (Westport), F. it. Cook (Christchurch), C. T. Holier (Timaru), and F. Jones (Dunedin); resident central executive (Wellington), Messrs T. Bvindle, W Bromley, J Roberts, and J. Glover Before the proceedings terminated a presentation was made to Mr T. Brindle (retiring president). Several delegates left, to participate in the Eden by-election campaign.
