DUKE OF GUISE ASSUMES PEETENDERSHIP. (Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.) PARIS, April 7. (Received April 8, at 8 p.m.) The Duke of Guise announces his intention to leave France, following his decision to assume the claim to the succession to the throne. Considerable surprise is expressed at his decision to assume the Pretendership, resulting as it will in his exile from France where he has vast interests. His action is regarded as futile owing to the impossibility of monarchial restoration.—Sydney Sun Cable.
