THE SOHO MURDER
ACCUSED REMANDED. (Free* Association -By Telegraph—Copyright 1 LONDON, April 8. (Received April 8, at 8.20 p.m. ) Charles Emile Berthier was arrested at Newhaven and charged at Marlborough street with the murder of Charles Ballada. He was remanded. —A. and N.Z. Cable. A message received on Wedenesday stated: The foreign quarter of Coho was thrilled last evening by a man dashing hatless from a club with blood streaming from a wound in his head, despite which he escaped. The police found a Frenchman named Ballad dead in the club and drew a cordon round the vicinity, detain ing the members while they investigated. It is believed that the men quarrelled suddenly about a woman, while they were playing cards and drinking. Later, deled ’ 's boarded a channel steamer at Newhaven and detained Bertheir in connection with the affair.
