RAILWAY TRAFFIC.
HEAVY PASSENGER FIGURES. The passenger traffic on inward and outward express trains, though it has diminished considerably, remains very heavy. Yesterday’s returns show that over 3500 people travelled by the long-distance trains The arrivals were outnumbered by the departures, but even at that the visitors continue fo arrive in large numbers. Seventeen hundred and sixty-two arrived from the north and south by the five expresses which arrived yesterday. The following are the particulars of arrivals and departures yesterday:— OUTWARD. From the North: 5.40 a m 9.5. a.in. 455 11.30 385 For the South. 8.33 a. 330 4.40 p.m 370 Total 1855 INWARD. From the North: 4.18 p.m 3^? 5 - 6 8.45 p.m From the South': 11.15 3 ‘^ 0.15 p.m -•• Total UO2
