BEAUTIES OF NORTH ISLAND.

AUSTRALIAN VISITOR'S IMPRESSIONS. (From Our Own Cobrespossp.nt.) WELLINGTON, April 8. Senator Sir Henry Harwell, who was Premier of South Australia from 1920 to 1924, has arrived in Wellington. He is visiting New Zealand partially on private business and partially at the request of the Australian Prime Minister (Mr S. M. Bruce) to look into various matters in New Zealand of interest to the Commonwealth Government. He will leave for the Exhibition at Dunedin to-morrow night. . ’ ■ SiP Henry speaks m terms of high praise of the beauties of the North Island. Its scenic attractions were, he said, on a far grander scale than those of Australia, which possessed long stretches of flat country. He commented on the fact that Labour Governments were now in office in most of the Australian States, but said it had to be remembered the Commonwealth Government was Nationalist. The Commonwealth Governme t had very important matters to administer, such as defence, Customs, and post and telegraphs, but the State Governments had actually to do with tlie real development of the country, and that was where Labour was doing a great amount of harm.
