TROWBRIDGE MURDER
INQUEST CONCLUDED. CORONER REFUSES TO ACCEPT RIDER. (Piet. Association—By Telegraph—Copyrieht, > LONDON, January 3(J. (Received Jan. 31, at 5.5 p.m.) At the resumed inquest at Trowbridge on the body of Richards, for whose murder Lincoln has been sentenced to death, the Jury returned a verdict of murder by persons unidentified. The foreman .said the jury wished to add the following rider;—“We are of opinion that there has been a grave miscarriage of justice. ” The coroner refused to accept the rider, saying : —“You have no business to express such an opinion after a case has been tried by a higher court.’’ —A. and N.Z. Cable. Edward Charles Richards, who was found shot in his own garden at Trowbridge, and who afterwards died, made a statement to the police, who on Christmas I)av arrested Bombadier John Lincoln kt a house where a party was in progress. Lincoln said: “Do not break up the party. I will come quietly.”
