VICTORIA’S DEPARTMENT. HEAVY LOSSES POE THE YEAR. (Press* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, January 28. The annual report of the PostmasterGeneral’s Department, which was tabled in the House of Representatives, showed that the net loss for the year ended June 50, 1925, was £242,322.’ The earnings of all branches totalled £10,074,854, an increase of £350,053 over the previous year - . The working expenses, excluding interest charges, totalled £9,230,629, an increase of £781,853. Tlie previous year's operations showed a profit of £364,352. The principal factors contributing to the changed financial aspect, compared with the previous year, were the reductions in tne postage rate (£300,000), the application of radical charges for telephone calls (£82,000), reduced cable rates (£17,500), mail steamer loss (£7,000), and the various Arbitration Court awards (£283,000).
