RUGBY LEAGUE.
OTAGO EXECUTIVE MEETING. The executive of the Otago Rugby League met last evening. Mr T. M. Gillies being m the chair. The Chairman reported that during the past week a meeting of players was held for the purpose of considering the advisability of forming a Kaikorai League Club. Some 20 players attended, and it was decided to hold a general meeting next month to establish a Kaikorai Club. The matter of putting an insurance scheme into operation fox players this season was left in the hands of Messrs Rice and Watt to report on. The President reported having attended a special general meeting of the' New Zealand Rugby League at Wellington on Saturday last, and that the council had adopted the whole of the amendments that the Otago League had recommended for the New Zealand League’s constitution. The council also made the following appointments in connection with the New Zealand team to tour England this year; Coach and team manager, Mr H. Mair; financial manager, Mr J. H. Ponder (Auckland); selectors, Messrs S. H. Hordingham. (Christchurch) and A. J. MMlymont (Auckland) a third selector to bo appointed by the "New Zealand League Executive. For the selection of the team the following matches were agreed upon:— South Island. —West Coast v. Otago at Greymouth, West Coast v. South Canterbury at Timaru, Otago v. South Canterbury at Timaru, Canterbury v. Otago at Dunedin, A and B teams at Christchurch. North Island. —Wellinton v. Manawatu at Wellington, Auckland v. South Auckland at Hamilton, Hamilton v. Auckland at Auckland, South Island v. North Island at Auckland; A and B teams at Auckland. The three selectors and coach are to visit all games. The team will leave New Zealand on July 18, and will arrive in England on September 4. The expenses of the tour are to be borne by the English League, who will also pay toe New Zealand League 75 per cent, of the gate takings on tho understanding that the profits of tho tour will be. used in developing the game in New Zealand.
