According to the report of the Public Service Board, the complement of the Public Service has been reduced by 642 (part and full-time employees) since 1920, despite the fact that the population has increased by 185,000 in the same period. At June 15 last there were 17,702 fulltime and 618 part-time officers and employees. The number of scnool teachers was considerably below the requirements of the Education Department.
